MASSENA NY PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS

Barnhart isle beach & Playground

The largest and one of the most attractive beaches in the area, with a fantastic playground to boot! Swings, slides (small and very tall), tunnels, tubes, climbing wall, monkey bars, spring animals, and benches - not that there is much opportunity to sit on them!  The beach is right next to the playground, but you will not need to worry about your youngest children out-running you from the play structure and falling into the water as this is a BIG beach, and the water is a fair distance away.

Given the size, there is lots of space to play and enjoy the sand and the water - even during busy summer days. The park also has substantial green space, with picnic tables and barbeques, and the parking lot is set back from the beach behind a substantial grassy slope: sufficient for plenty of time rolling and running once the enticement of sandy feet has worn off.

To get to the beach you will need to take the 131 through the tunnel into Robert Moses State Park, continue straight on Barnhart Island Rd, past the Friends of the RMSP Nature Center, and over the bridge onto Barnhart Island. Turn left onto Beach Marina Road and take the next right to the Beach. There is a vast parking lot to cater to summer needs. The playground is closest to the far end of the lot.

Springs park Massena NY

A fabulous park and playground on the north bank of the Racquette river in Massena. A great spot in spring summer and fall for relaxing, charging around and testing out climbing, swinging and sliding skills. The trees and bandstand provide some shady spots to sit in, and there are numerous tables and benches to support those all-important refueling snack moments. If you live in Massena, or come into town for its shops and services, don't miss out on this playground opportunity.

The park also includes two baseball pitches for organized sports and general play, as well as a boat launch directly onto the Racquette river.
